You Might Be a Great Book Coach. Here’s How to Know for Sure.

The Book Coach Fundamentals Course teaches you how professional book coaches think and work so you can practice the skills, see what you’re good at, and decide how far you want to take it.

This the same foundational training every Author Accelerator certified coach started with, and for the first time, you can take it as a standalone course.

100% self-paced · Includes content for all three genres · $299

You May Already Be Doing Some Version of This

You’re the person other writers come to.

You read something and immediately see what’s working—and what isn’t. You ask a question and suddenly someone sees their book differently.

You know a lot about writing.

You’ve written books. Edited them. Taught writing. Led workshops. Critiqued pages. Now you want to learn how to use what you know to help other writers.

You’re already getting paid to help writers.

But you’re making up your process as you go—and you want to build a professional foundation you can rely on

Wherever you're starting, Book Coach Fundamentals shows you how professional book coaches think and work, so you can see what you're good at and where you want to go next.

Get a Clear Vision of Book Coaching Before You Build a Business Around It

For $299, discover how professional book coaches think and work, practice the skills, and see whether book coaching is something you want to pursue.

Not sure which genre to focus on? There’s a lesson to help you choose, and you can jump over to the other two genres whenever you get curious. All three genres are included in this training.

You don't have to decide whether you want to launch a business.
You only have to decide whether you want to learn how book coaching works.

Knowing About Writing Isn't the Same as Knowing How to Coach a Writer

You may know a lot about craft. You may be an excellent writer, a sharp editor, a gifted teacher: the person everyone asks to read their pages.

That gives you something valuable to bring to book coaching. But it doesn't automatically teach you how to coach.

Book coaching isn't just giving good feedback. It's listening, discerning, making judgment calls, supporting, and guiding.

That's what Book Coach Fundamentals teaches you to do.

Ready to dive deeper?

Book Coach Fundamentals is the first step toward Blueprint Method Training, which is how we teach coaches to help writers start, rescue, and revise their books.

If you purchase Book Coach Fundamentals in October or November 2026, you may put your $299 fee toward Blueprint Method Training.

After taking Blueprint Method Training, you are eligible to enroll in the Blueprint Facilitator Practicum to work with a client and get expert feedback.

If you pass the practicum, you earn the right to call yourself an Author Accelerator Blueprint Facilitator and a place in our Blueprint Facilitator Directory.

You’ll Start Figuring Out What You Want Your Book Coaching Business To Look Like

Book Coach Fundamentals gives you room to think about not just how to coach writers—but what kind of book coach you might want to become.

Who do you want to coach?

The writers, genres, and projects you’re drawn to—and the ones you’re not.

What kind of business do you want to build?

Your scope, your time, your boundaries, and what would make the work profitable.

What do you want this work to make possible?

Think about how book coaching could fit into the work—and the life—you want.

By the time you finish, you’ll have a much better sense of whether book coaching is right for you—and what you might want to do with it.

We’ve been training professional book coaches for more than a decade.

Book coaching isn’t about memorizing rules for what makes a good book. It's about making good decisions about how to help a writer. Her'e’s how:

Know What Matters

A writer can have twenty things going wrong on the page. Learn to recognize what matters most now—and what can wait.

Give Feedback That Moves the Writer Forward

Learn to give feedback that is specific, useful, and actionable—without overwhelming the writer.

Know Where to Focus

Use tools like the Hierarchy of Editorial Concerns, The Stoplight Strategy, and Editorial EQ to focus your attention instead of trying to fix everything you see.

Coach the Writer, Not Just the Writing

Learn to work with doubt, fear, resistance, ambition, and frustration—without becoming the writer’s therapist, rescuer, or boss.

Think Like a Professional

Learn to think about scope, timelines, intake, boundaries, time, and profitability—not just what you say about the pages.

Blueprint for a Book Method Training

Fundamentals of Book Coaching teaches you how to think like a book coach.

Blueprint gives you a complete coaching method you can use and sell.

In the eight-week Blueprint training, you’ll learn the 14-step Blueprint for a Book method of inquiry—a repeatable process for helping writers get underneath their pages, figure out the book they’re trying to make, and turn big, unwieldy ideas into a book they can actually write.

You’ll choose a genre to focus on and learn how to:

  • BUILD the foundation before drafting.

  • DIAGNOSE the real problem when a writer is stuck.

  • TEST whether the book is fulfilling its vision during revision.

You’ll discover how to turn Blueprint into a defined paid coaching service—something you can explain, scope, price, deliver, repeat, and sell.

Blueprint is also where live group coaching begins, with eight weeks of support as you learn the method.

Your $299 goes with you.

Book Coach Fundamentals is included in the $1,999 Blueprint training.

So if you purchase Book Coach Fundamentals in October or November 2026 and decide to enroll in Blueprint Method Training, your $299 Fundamentals purchase will be credited toward your Blueprint tuition.

Learn the fundamentals first.

See what you’re good at.

See how you like the work.

And if you finish thinking YES, I want to do this, you’ll know exactly where to go next.

Hi I’m Jennie Nash

I’m the founder and CEO of Author Accelerator.

We’re on a mission to lead the emerging book coaching industry.

We’ve certified more than 320 book coaches who are working with all kinds of writers all over the world, helping them write better books and figure out how to get those books into readers’ hands.

I’m a huge evangelist for book coaching because I have seen firsthand what an enormous impact it makes on the writer and their work. As one of my recent clients said to me, “I feel grateful for this whole process with you. I (finally!) love what I wrote. How does anyone do this without a book coach?!”

Being a book coach also has an enormous impact on the coach. We make all the decisions about our business, call all the shots, and utilize all our talents — for words and ideas, for stories, for people, and for making meaning.

I’m excited to introduce you to what your book coaching business might look like.

FAQ

Who is Book Coach Fundamentals for?
It's for writers, editors, writing teachers, freelancers, publishing professionals, coaches, and anyone interested in learning how to help writers professionally. You may already be helping writers and want to stop winging it. Or you may simply suspect you'd be good at book coaching and want to find out.

Do I need to be a published author or professional editor to become a book coach?
No. You should have a genuine interest in books, writing and helping writers. You should be ready to learn and practice the skills of book coaching. If you decide to launch a business, you should be ready to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset.

Is this for fiction, memoir, or nonfiction?
All three! There's a version of the training for each genre. You'll choose one to focus on, and if you're not sure which, we have a lesson to help you decide. The training for all three is available to you in the course, so you can explore the others whenever you're curious.

Is the course live?
No. Book Coach Fundamentals is 100% self-paced, with immediate access. You can work through it on your own schedule.

How much time will it take?
Most people spend 10 to 15 hours working through Book Coach Fundamentals.

Are there books I need to buy?
No. Some lessons suggest books we love for book coaches, but they're optional.

What's included?
Video lessons with transcripts, hands-on exercises, and downloadable tools, including the Hierarchy of Editorial Concerns, the SLICE Method Checklist, The Stoplight Strategy Worksheet, a client intake Q&A and checklist, a discovery call outline, and a project timeline calculator.

Can I use the tools with my own clients?
Yes. Several tools, like the Hierarchy of Editorial Concerns and the client intake Q&A, are designed to share with your writers or use in your own coaching.

Will I practice book coaching?
You'll work with sample pages, writer situations, intake materials, and story ideas, and you'll listen to real discovery calls.

If you want to coach a real writer and get our feedback on your work, that happens later. You can enroll in the Blueprint Facilitator Practicum.

What is the Blueprint Facilitator Practicum?

This is our premier book coach training program. It follows the Blueprint Method Training course. Blueprint Method Training is $1,999 and includes 8 weeks of live group coaching. The Blueprint Facilitator Practicum is $2,999 and included live coaching and 1:1 feedback.

Does the Book Coach Fundamentals course cover the business side of book coaching?
Yes. You'll get clear on why you want to do this work, who you want to serve, and which genre to focus on. You'll learn how to design a client intake process, spot red-flag clients, and set professional boundaries. You'll also learn how to scope a project and set a timeline, track your time, edit efficiently, and work through the 7 steps to building a book coaching business.

This is, of course, only the start of what you need to know. There is much, much more to learn about building a book coaching business, which we teach in our other programs.

Does the Book Coach Fundamentals course cover AI?
Yes. One of the lessons is a book coach's guide to using AI in your coaching work.

What if I'm not sure I want to become a book coach?
That's exactly why we're offering Fundamentals on its own. You don't have to decide before you've had a chance to learn what the work actually involves. Learn the fundamentals. Practice. See what you think. Then decide.

Do I need a client?
No.

Do I need to apply?
No.

Is there support if I have questions?
There is no direct support for this program, but you are welcome to come to our monthly Open House to ask us any questions you might have. And if you want live coaching, Blueprint Method Training includes eight weeks of live group coaching calls.

Will I be certified, or get a certificate, when I finish?
No. Book Coach Fundamentals is foundational training, not a credential. Completing it doesn't make you an Author Accelerator Certified Book Coach, and there's no certificate of completion.

If you want to become a Licensed Author Accelerator Blueprint Facilitator, keep going: take Blueprint Method Training, then the Blueprint Facilitator Practicum, and pass its competency evaluation.

What comes next if I want to keep going?
Your next step is Blueprint Method Training. Book Coach Fundamentals teaches you how to think like a book coach. Blueprint Method Training gives you a complete coaching method you can use with writers and offer as a paid service. It's also where live group coaching begins.
