Helping a Client Publish a Book

Congratulations to Author Accelerator certified book coach Janet Fox and her client Brook Merrow! Brook’s young adult contemporary mystery Trapped is now published! Janet shares more about her experience working with Brook on the book below.

Which publishing route was taken for this project and why?

Hybrid publishing. TRAPPED is set in Maine, with a strong local vibe, and Maine Authors Publishing Coop is a respected regional publisher. And Brook didn't want to wait for a traditional publisher.

How were you involved in the writer’s process leading up to publication?

Brook was my very first client. We worked on the book from rough draft through final publication, and then prepared her pitch. I also helped with a final copyedit.

What are you most proud of in terms of this coaching relationship?

Brook was a pleasure to work with, and her book is a riveting and compelling story about a young man dealing with tragedy and first love - and it has an LGBTQ subplot that is beautifully crafted.

What did you do to celebrate this achievement?

I’m excited to help her get this lovely book out into the world!

What are the next steps for your career?

I'm scaling to offering a series of courses/mentorship program.

Why would you recommend book coaching to get to this point in the writing journey?

Having a coach is like having a best friend who gets what you are thinking before you say it.

Congratulations, Janet!
