I promised that I would discuss how to find an editor or book coach you can trust, but I realized that before we get to that part, I should show you the difference between different types of editing.

There is so much confusion out there about the difference between a proofread and a copyedit and a developmental edit – and it is confusing because a book is a complex and multi-layered creation.

In order to clearly show the different kinds of editing, I wrote a few sentences that we could take through each type of edit.
